[Updated in June 1998]Nice Jewish Girls, the discussion list for self-identified Jewish lesbians and bisexual women, has moved to a new site. From our earlier incarnations on zoom.com and a brief sojourn at the University of Pennsylvania server, we are now located at shamash.org, which should provide us with a secure and stable longterm site.
Our list is a wideranging, unmoderated, and tolerant discussion of issues of interest to Jewish lesbian and bisexual women. To protect the privacy and safety of members, our discussions are not publicly archived, and archives are accessible only to list subscribers. Our previous listowners Robin Goldstein and Vanessa Eisemann have launched a tradition of often witty and civil discourse on issues of interest to us. At last count, we were about 100 members, from the U.S., Canada, and Israel. We have enjoyed the opportunity to build a community online, to network and to kibbitz, and to share information of interest. We have also found that a list limited to lesbian and bisexual Jewish women often offers safe space for discussing issues of interest. Please join us if you like!
To subscribe, send a message to listproc@shamash.org with the message reading subscribe nicejg your real name. Note that for your own privacy, you may use initials or an alias or first name only if you like in place of 'your real name'. We, as current list managers, will then process your request as soon as possible.
We look forward to seeing you there, in addition to other list discussions you might enjoy. Please write to Janet at jgoldst@ibm.net or L'hava at lhava@mcs.net if you need further information.
Best wishes,
Laura Moss
