The Sapphic Sauna Experience
Finland is the home of sauna, enjoyed by everyone. Going to sauna
is a highly recommended experience for visitors, so don't miss it
while in Finland.
In Finland, sauna is never a nickname for erotic services.
Instead, it is a respectable national institution, frequented by
practically everyone. Many Finnish families have a sauna of their
own, however small, and often a certain weekday is dedicated
for the "sauna evening".
Lesbians are no exception. In the 1980s, it was quite usual to
have lesbian sauna gatherings - now unfortunately not so common
with the increasing number of bars and dances.
To visit a sauna, take a towel, soap and/or shampoo, and a fresh
change of clothes (at least underwear) with you. Strip naked,
take a shower, and enter the sauna. Throw water on the
hot stones and sweat away. Then go wash yourself, and take
another round if you want. If there's a lake next to the sauna,
go jump naked in it and have a cooling swim. Continue as long
as you wish, there is no hurry.
Many Finns will have a cold beer during or afterwards, directly
from the bottle. Cheers!
